UPDATED TPA STATEMENT ON CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)
“In the guidance it has issued specifically in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) – which is a department of Homeland Security – has advised that the energy industry is part of the critical infrastructure workforce, including pipelines and related facilities. Workers who are needed to keep the supplies of oil and gas and the products of oil and gas are recognized as Critical Infrastructure Workers who should not be prevented from doing their jobs. Throughout this time, Texas pipeline companies are taking the necessary precautions to protect their industry employees and to avoid the spread of the disease. This includes incorporating work-at-home policies when possible and encouraging workers to follow the hygiene habits recommended by healthcare professionals and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. TPA and the industry are keeping in close contact with state and federal regulators to ensure the continued safety and reliability of the Texas pipeline infrastructure as we deliver the hydrocarbons – such as crude oil, petroleum products and natural gas – that fuel our homes and businesses.” Thure Cannon, President Texas Pipeline Association
