Members of the Texas Pipeline Association congratulate Texas Railroad Commissioner Christi Craddick on her recent election as the new Chairman of the Railroad Commission of Texas, the regulatory agency responsible for the oversight of Texas’ pipeline industry. Chairman Craddick was elected during an open meeting of the Commission on Tuesday.

Thure Cannon, president of the Texas Pipeline Association, says the state’s midstream industry wants regulatory certainty as it builds the infrastructure needed to serve thriving oil-and-gas basins including the Eagle Ford Shale.

The U.S. Department of Transportation gave grants totaling $1.5 million last year to states for safety programs aimed at reducing damage to pipelines. Twenty states qualified. But not Texas.
